Hi! I’m Brittany Garfinkle—the teacher behind TransitionUP.

I spent 13 years in the classroom and loved my job, but I also spent a lot of time feeling frustrated with my curriculum options. I needed something that focused on specific skills, provided repetition, and actually helped my students build real-world independence.

When I couldn’t find what I needed, I ended up making it myself—over and over again.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught in substantially separate classrooms, resource rooms, and co-taught in general education settings. I’ve worked closely with students ages 14–22 on academics, transition planning, and life skills.

If there’s one thing I have, it’s a lot of experience.

I know how tough it can be to find differentiated yet age-appropriate materials for middle and high school students—so now, I make them, hoping to save teachers like you time, energy, and maybe a little sanity.

My goal is simple: to support teachers and their students with practical, meaningful learning experiences that empower them on their journey to independence.

With three little ones at home and a break from the classroom, I finally have the time to create the resources I always needed but never had. When I’m not working on TransitionUP, you can usually find me rewatching New Girl (for the millionth time), getting my kids snacks, or losing myself in the pages of a good book (I’ll take nerdy fantasy books, please).

Welcome to the TransitionUP community—I hope you find something here that makes your day a little easier!
